2.  CHARGING - The Ecolight is a rechargeable flashlight periodically requiring charging.
 
Solar Charging - A full charge takes about an hour. If the sun is high in the sky, lay the Ecolight® on a flat surface.  If the sun is low in the sky, stand the Ecolight® on its front end so the solar panel faces the sun directly. Indoor Charging: Place the Ecolight® on a windowsill or flat surface, where sunlight hits the solar panel (for thermal pane windows with low-E glass, charging will be slower but should still work well).

Outlet Charging* - Plug the AC charger cord into a USB port on your computer (while it is on) and the other end with the small round plug inserted into the back of the Ecolight®; charging takes only about four minutes. The green indicator light on the bottom of the Ecolight® turns on when charging is complete. For some smaller laptop computers, the charging process can take somewhat longer (up to 7 or 8 minutes) since the USB port's power is less powerful than a desktop computer. You can also use this charge cord to connect to other AC and car chargers with a USB port for charging the Ecolight®.

Car charging* - Plug the car charger into your car's cigarette lighter socket, then plug the other end of the USB cord into the car charger’s USB port, with the small round plug (the other end) into the back of the Ecolight®. It charges in only about four minutes. The green indicator light on the underside of the flashlight will glow when fully charged, and turn off when you unplug the charger.

You should not leave the Ecolight® plugged into one of these chargers to hold its charge; in fact, it is advisable not to do so, since it is better for its longevity not to leave it plugged into one of these chargers for long periods of time.

Holding a charge - After a full charge, the Ecolight® will loose about 50% of its stored power after 30 - 40 days if the solar panel has not been exposed to light during this period. To keep it fully charged, place it where it will either receive a little sunlight on it solar panel or through ambient, indirect light in a brightly lit room. You may need to experiment with this to learn how to keep it fully charged with the solar panel.

3.  WATER EXPOSURE - The Ecolight® is water-resistant, but not water-tight.  If it is rained on, it should not leak and if dropped into a pool of water it can be expected to float, but not for a very long time.  If any water does get inside the case and the front lens shows signs of condensation on the inside, take off the front of the flashlight by carefully peeling back the front rubber piece by pulling on the bottom foot of the rubber front until it is completely removed. Next take out the lens and reflector.  Place the flashlight in a warm, dry environment for 1-2 hours to allow it to dry thoroughly. To re-assemble it, first replace the reflector. Next place the lens cover inside the groove in the front rubber piece. Then peel the rubber front piece back onto the case of the flashlight to make sure the lens cover stays snuggly in the groove of the front rubber piece.
